One of the best things about our summer school is our central Oxford location. Read below for more detail on our accommodation, facilities, food and catering, and the safety and security of our summer school students.
The City of Oxford
All of our students live and stay in the beautiful city of Oxford, in the United Kingdom.
Oxford is renowned for its world-class university, its beautiful architecture, and its rich history.
Not only are we located in the centre of this magical city, but many of our staff and tutors have themselves been students in Oxford - so they have plenty of insider knowledge to share with our students.
Lincoln College, Oxford
We are hosted each year by Lincoln College, one of the University of Oxford's constituent colleges.
Set on a quiet side street, next door to the University's Natural History Museum and stunning University Parks, and 5 minutes walk from Oxford's pedestrianised main shopping street, our summer school couldn't be better in a location from which to explore the City and University.
Students sleep, eat, and relax all in Lincoln College.
The rooms our summer school students live in are normally used by Oxford University undergraduates, but are vacated over the summer.
All the rooms are single-occupancy, with an en-suite bathroom and access to WiFi. Rooms are arranged on boys’ and girls’ staircases.
There is a member of staff on duty at all times, and a register is taken three times every day of the summer school.
Our summer school students have wonderful facilities while they are in Oxford. These include:
- WiFi throughout
- 100 seater lecture theatre and teaching rooms
- Common room with TV, Playstation, table tennis and board games
- Kitchen and light-filled dining area
- Computer room with access to printing
- Music practice rooms with pianos
- On-site laundry facilities
- Still and sparkling water on tap, tea, coffee, juice and fruit
Oxbridge International Summer School provides all breakfasts and dinners inclusive in our fees. Catering is provided by a partner catering agency and meals are all eaten together on campus in our large dining room.
Breakfasts include: hot and cold drinks; range of cereals; fresh fruit; yoghurt; cheese and cold meats; bread and pastries
Dinners will also be served on site and include a range of hot main courses, with cold salads available. We can cater to dietary requirements. On several nights we will eat out in restaurants in Oxford, and in Cambridge; and takeaway pizza and movie nights.
Students are given free time to go out to buy lunch in small groups from the nearby shops and cafes in Oxford. Students should budget ca. £5/day for this. Our 2019 sumer school staff team are already preparing to share their favourite recommendations!
Safety and Security
Safety and well-being of our students is our number one priority.
We have one of the most secure sites in Oxford, with all amenities on one site. Our summer school are the only group to use the site, and access is via a Porters' Lodge which is staffed 24/7.
All students on the summer school are given keys to their own individual room, and fobs for accessing the site. The Porters' Lodge close the main door at 10pm every night, and the entirety of the site is protected by CCTV. Our staff live on site, and students register with duty staff three times a day, and sign in/out every time they arrive at/leave the summer school campus.
