Last week we all went on a trip to Cambridge to explore the other half of ‘Oxbridge’! We explored Cambridge on foot, including going into many colleges and bookshops, and viewing the city from another angle; from a guided punt tour! Some students braved the climb up to the top of Great St Mary’s church for the beautiful bird’s eye view of the city centre.

Many students commented on the difference between the two cities being tangible, with Cambridge being smaller and ‘quaint’, and Oxford feeling more like a city.

In the evening we relaxed in the beautiful gardens of Selwyn College before heading into the traditional Main Hall for dinner together.

And finally, we received an excellent talk by current PhD student Ben, who is researching developments in IVF treatment. The students had many questions about his day-to-day routine, and how he decided that he definitely wanted to embark on a PhD.

It was a long but very enjoyable day; we all slept well when we got back to Oxford, ready for classes in the morning!
